About PCARC |
|
PCARC was founded on January 30, 2006. It is our desire to serve the citizens of Carthage and Panola County, Texas to the best of our ability. We offer license examinations, Skywarn classes, ARES training, and of course, plain old fun.
Effective October 19, 2006, PCARC became an Incorporation in the State of Texas and obtained a 501c(3) tax exemption status from the Internal Revenue Service. This will enable the club to seek grants and gifts in kind to purchase emergency communications equipment so that we may better serve our community.
Meetings: Membership in PCARC is open to anyone who has a sincere interest in Amateur Radio. Meetings are held at the Panola County Airport on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7pm.
Ragchew Net: A weekly net is held each Tuesday (except meeting night) at 7pm on the 147.180 repeater (t123.0). This is an open net and we welcome any stations who wish to check in.
Repeaters: At the present time, PCARC sponsors one repeater, located at 200’ on the Carthage Police Department/Fire Department communications tower. We are hopeful to obtain a frequency pair for a second VHF repeater in the very near future. We also have a Winlink/Airmail station up and running on 145.05, WA5PC-7, and an APRS station.
Annual Activities: PCARC is actively involved in special events, including the Republic of Texas International Boundary Marker and the Jim Reeves Memorial.
PCARC also participates in Field Day and other local events.
